The Secret of Our Wines

Cal Bessó Winery

Cal Bessó Winery

Welcome to Cal Bessó, an organic winery located in Tarragona, where family tradition merges with a passion for producing high-quality wines. Founded in 2015 by partners Jaume and Raimon, this winery stands as a living testament to the dedication to sustainable viticulture and environmental preservation.

The story of Cal Bessó has its roots in the vision of Jaume, who owned a vineyard of exceptional quality, but the cooperative undervalued it. Together with Raimon, they decided to bring this exceptional grape to life by creating the winery. Thus, Cal Bessó was born, a family business committed to excellence.

The winery is located in Montsant, a quite heterogeneous region with 9 zones where we can find slate, granite, and limestone soils. Our current production is around 20,000 bottles. The grapes come exclusively from Jaume's organic vineyards, La Presa (planted between the 1990s and 2000s) and Les Rutes (planted in 1950).

If you're looking for a unique experience in the world of organic wines, Cal Bessó is your winery in Tarragona. Our history, rooted in the beauty of Montsant and a commitment to sustainability, is poured into every bottle we produce.

Los Guiamets

Los Guiamets

The municipality, at 226 meters above sea level at the top of a hillock, is located within the so-called Bajo Priorat, where rugged and wild landscapes disappear to give way to flat and less aggressive areas. Drained by the Cabezas stream, a tributary of the Siurana River, within its term is the largest part of the Los Guiamets reservoir, a must-visit.

Agriculture is the main activity of the population. The main cultivation is the vine, followed by olive trees, almond trees, and cherry trees. It is said that, in the elevated enclave where we find the small population of Los Guiamets, the few inhabitants guided visitors, mostly coming from the French town of Metz, to trade with wine.

For this reason, this place is now known as Los Guiamets.
